We love the clever use of design and space, and in making ARCHAVONstudio we believe we have achieved a new accommodation concept in west Cornwall. Conceived by the current owner Kelvin, ARCHAVONstudio was designed by brilliant local architects Studio West Architects, and their brief was to create a small yet luxurious space, celebrating light, texture and quality design. Although measuring just 252 metres the studio delivers everything we asked for and more.
ARCHAVONstudio is located in the middle of the bustling town of St Just, within walking or short driving distance of the moors, the dramatic South West coast path and as much wild scenery and beautiful beaches as you could want in a few days or a week or two. St Just is at the heart of the Tin Coast, a World Heritage site that brings us the atmospheric cliff top mine workings that feature in TV and films such as Poldark, and the novels of Daphne du Maurier and Roseamund Pilcher. St Just is small but perfectly formed, with a strong community maintaining many independent shops. There's a couple of butchers, a fab greengrocers, a bakers, galleries galore, four pubs with live music some nights - plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry.
We believe in the benefits of great light - light enhances life, and the studio features a large skyspace roof light inspired by James Turrell, as well as full height windows. Everything is within easy reaching distance of the studio, and yet the feeling of space is all around.
The fully fitted Rotpunkt kitchen incorporates AEG and Neff appliances - a two ring induction hob, and high level combination oven, with a dishwasher to make light of clearing up. Everything has been carefully chosen, even down to the cutlery... we hope you'll love it as much as we do.
Wherever you stay the quality of the bed is vital, and at ARCHAVONstudio we think you'll be delighted. After much research we invested in a highly rated Eve mattress with matching pillows and the feedback has been brilliant. We reckon they'll be getting some orders from our happy guests.
The hi spec shower room is filled with light and mirrors and offers enough reflections to check yourself out from every angle.
The studio has been built in the garden of Archavon, the owner's home, with full width gates that make it private from the rest of St Just outside. The suntrap courtyard garden, with its array of pots of flowers, herbs and various succulents, make it an ideal breakfast spot, or to chill out after a long day walking the cliffs and moors.
There's no dedicated parking at Archavon, but St Just's free town car park is less than a hundred metres down the road.
